DONT JUMP!!!

Yep its that time again, Westgate Bridge party time! As with last time its a not very well kept secret, but guaranteed to be fucking immense! I was very sceptical of the last one as it was the first illegal outside party i had been to in Australia and seeing how the authorities can be pretty killjoy about things over here i thought its bound to be A) not very good, B) just full of wastepeople and C) gonna get locked off as soon as the first system fires up, but no i was proven wrong on all acounts. A load of us went down and had a heavy time. This one looks to be even better with 9 systems each bringing different sounds and with Wu-Tang on earlier in the night this is gonna be the main draw for the after party (for anyone that has some self respect at least and dont wanna roll down to some boojy Chapel St venue)...and its Halloween so expect a load of Vampiresses etc

All kicks off at 9pm under The Westgate, Port Melbourne side
Big up Subbass!

A COUPLE OF BIG'UNS

If you're a dubstep fan living in Melbourne and you've not heard of whats happening on New Years Day then you must be lost. Myself, Afficks + A13 have just been added to the bill(too late for the flyer) alongside possibly the biggest line-up Australia has seen ever ever ever! 2 rooms, its gonna be fucked in there!!!

But before all that madness we got dons Tes La Rock and Cotti at Nightowl. I'm very much looking fwd to hosting this one, Cotti when he came out last year was one of the gigs of the year!

HEADING SOUTH

I'll be flying down to Adelaide on Saturday, playing at Thebarton Theatre in the evening. If you're in town, come on down!

I'M DONT MC, ITS JUST A HOBBY

ZING ZING ZOOM, THATS HOW I TRAVEL!!!

Yep, i know i posted about the new Big H cd, 'Street Crime Uk', a few posts below, but at that point i'd only skimmed thru it briefly. Since then its been on non-stop rotation (along with the new Ghostface) and i gotta say this CD is dumb!!! I'm normally someone who just listens to radio sets and random tunes 'cos most album just dont grab me, but fuck me this is some madness!!! Obviously its full of coke and murder talk, but he does it in such a way that i just cant get bored of it, menacing and funny all at the same time. For me the standouts are 'Mainstream', 'Alone', Coke Cola' and 'Whitewash'. You gotta go grab this CD, which you can do right here http://www.ukrecordshop.com/item/big-h-street-crime-uk.html

You get the feeling his extracurricular activities are gonna have a say in him putting out more releases, but lets hope not!

UPCOMING

Not got any flyers to hand, i dont even know all the venue's, but here's some shows coming up i'm playing at. If they're in your town try and reach:

Adelaide, Thebarton theatre, Saturday 24th October

Melbourne, The Palace, Friday 6th November

Hobart, Brisbane Hotel, Friday 13th November (yeah really looking fwd to flying on Friday the 13th!)

Melbourne, Too Much @ The Night Owl with Cotti (UK) + Tes La Rock (FL), Saturday 14th November

Adelaide, Friday 4th December

There's talk of me and Afficks playing Hobart at a grime/dubstep night in December as well, just waiting on confirmation

GRIMEBITCH CLOSED DOWN!!!

What a load of shit! Seems a few artists were catching too many feelings and record company pressure seems to have forced the closure of grimebitch which for me was some of the funniest shit i've read in a looong time. It wasnt even like it was just pure gunning people either, it was intelligent gunning : )

I reckon it probably had more than a little bit to do with Chipmunk above. The youngster was getting parred left, right and centre and all deservedly so. If you're a yout going on a like a big man and basically boying off the whole scene that birthed you then dont be surprised when there's a backlash...anyways, well done on your Mobo Chippy, hope it was worth the the P's you're label spent on it!

THANK FUCK ITS FRIDAY!!!

Yep, i've still been slacking hard on posts recently despite saying i was gonna step it up. Blame it on too many late nights followed by entire days watching dvd's. While on the subject of watching stuff, i watched this documentary below last night which i saw on Louie Knuxx's blog and would definitely recommend it.

This guy has spent bare time taking snaps and film around the lower Eastside of NY, they surely need some sort of museum for it all i swear down! Its a really interesting watch and if i was better with words i'd say something profound about how he's managed to document a period in time that will never be repeated and how the world is changing for the the worse etc etc, but someone else will do it better than me...anyways, watch it, its big!

There's been bare things happening recently, not least last weekendS epic Heavy Innit!! at Hi Fi bar. Absolutely rammed, all the dj's tore it down, crowd was on a madness, i was in a state by the end of it, its all good! There's a few things coming up which i will try and post about, but before i forget, tomorrow night Raiden from back where i'm from will be doing a one-off totally free gig along with Lex, Johnny Hoves, Xehpa, Killswitch and more at a warehouse/factory in Maribnyong, right next to Highpoint. Raidens gonna be on early in case the cops show up, so i'd get there earlyish (not least because its gonna be a roadblock!)

QUESTIONS FOLLOWED BY ANSWERS - JERMZKI

So as I’m getting nearer to the completion of my new CD I’m gonna try and get a few Q&A’s with some of the people I’ve been working with.

First up is a guy from Canberra going by the name of Jermzski who’s been making some killer grime beats! Since I’ve been in Australia I’ve been searching high and low for producers making grime with not much luck until my boy Diem played me a CD of some of Jermzski’s beats and I was blown away that there was some dude over in Canberra of all places making such heat. I managed to link with him while I was in Canberra for a show a little while back and we’ve been speaking back and forth and getting some stuff underway. So far I’ve got two of his bangers on the CD, one just myself and one with the rest of Smash Brothers featuring…anyways, lets get this started.

First up state your name and location

Juzlo Jermzki! originally from Canbreezly, now residing in Sydney!

So how long have you been producing for now and what equipment are you running?

I have been dabbling in produkka now for 8 years! shit! but only really been taking it more seriously for the past 3 years.
I be using, Orion Platinum, Pro tools, Fl studio, Sound forge, behringer truth b3031a monitos, native instruments audio kontrol 1, 1200 technics.

Did you start off on the dubstep/grime thing and what was it that first got you interested in it?

Yeah started off on the 2-step/garage thing, so picked up on crews like Blazing squad, Fire camp, DJ EZ, So Solid, but I remember it was so hard to find anything of the sort out here. At the same time I was getting into the jungle/dnb thing, wasn’t until Dizzee done ‘Boy in da corner’ that I got more exposure and started digging hard to find more of the grime thing and it was such a breath of fresh air from the over saturated hip hop that I was listening to, few of my mates got into it as well and we'd just share and feed info off each other and haven’t looked back since..
the beats and energy of it all got me into it..

What other producers out right now are you feeling?

Thunderclaps, J.F.L.O.W.S, Two Fingers, Blazin beats, Skream, D Bridge, Calibre, Break, 16 bit... I could go on all day..

What about MC’s

ahh with Ozzies gotta go Diem, Hyjak, Trials, Hau
with brits - old Eski, Ghetto, Riko, Trimski, Scratch, Dogzilla, Discarda, Money Man,
i could go on all day....

Is there any sort of scene happening where you live?

The dubstep scene is absolutely vibing here at the moment, hip hop is pretty concrete as well, grimes a bit held down people just dont know, but its like a slumbering giant and I’m drawing all over its face so it'll awaking soon and be really pissed off...

What have you been working on recently and what have you got in the pipeline?

ahh hopefully more Smash Bros shit in the future!, done a beat for Swarmy G, i've been working on some new dubstep, and some new tracks with Centaspike, and basically just building up the grime scene in Oz..

If you could work with any 4 mc’s who would they be?

Diem, Ghetto, Tempa T, RikoDan

Finally, any shouts?

Mila, Heavy Breddas klick!, Drok universe, Blud shot Bronz, No prints Donny, Kine, Oskay, Anfo D, Real Dealio, Heavy D, Esti, the youngins,J1, TJS, 4thups, brendilinio, tidy, ricki, AJ, Mugs.

DAYS LIKE THIS

http://www.dayslikethis.com.au/
Now i'm not the biggest fan of Sydney, which probably has more to do with never staying longer than 24 hours in the city and not having a local showing me around, the last time i was there for a gig in Bondi saw me wandering completely lost in the CBD looking for a footlocker for a far too long! Gigs are always fun though and everyone is always hospitable, shouts to Vame and Dizz1 in particular...anyway, back on topic. I'm a big festival fan, not much better than lazing about in the sun, drinking with friends and listening to good music so i'm very much looking fwd to festival season.

So a lot of people have been going on about how sick this one in Sydney called 'Days like this' which apparently last year was real heavy, so a few of us have decided to make the trip over for it this year, you should too! Roots Manuva and Mayer Hawthorne are gonna be the highlights for me i reckon...or you could just spend the money on a Summerdayze ticket instead and take a load of GBH and K

GRIME BITCH

Grime fans, you need to check this new blog, proper jokes!!! Chipmonk getting parred left right and centre, Lee Brasco and Professor Green take funny hits too
