BRING BACK THE BEEF FOR '09!

I gotta say for '09 bring back the beef! 2008 was kinda boring for diss tracks to be honest. A few weak indirects here and there, but nothing substantial that was any good. Devlin and Little D was a non-event, as was Little D and Dot Rotten. The grime scene thrives on beef, but everyone was trying to be a bit too professional this year haha. Of course its good people trying to be professional and shit, but fuck it, there's always a time and a place for some war, stop getting on with each other! Bring back some of that entertainment. I know it wont happen, but personally i'd like to see a few Ghetz V Goodz dubs! Saying all this tho, Ghetto and Tempz going at each other on Westwood earlier in the year was highly entertaining even if it didnt result in any tracks (gotta love Jammer and Ghetto almost talking under their breath at each other haha). The last week or so has seen Goodz and Wiley going at each other (see below) which is something i suppose and a good ending for 2008. Lets hope it leads to more 'cos its always fun. Wiley's generally involved in most of the interesting sendage so i'm hoping he gets more involved this year (Titch phone line dub from jail anyone?).

MELBOURNE...

Pls sort your weather out! That is all

YOU BEEN YAMMIN ON A BACON SARNIE

Didnt think it would happen, but Wiley just sent back for Goodz! Could make things interesting, especially after the shit he says about the Titch situation!

SO MANY BANGERS I'M DYING TO LEAK ONE

Wiley smashing it on Westwood the other night

LET ME LEAVE!!!

Its Xmas eve, the suns shining thru my window and i'm STILL stuck at work. No phone calls for about 5 hours, nothing to do, hardly anyone here (as they all booked it off before i could get round to it) and i still have to stay here til 5!?! All the good websites are blocked, they've even disabled the cd drive's on the computers so i cant even listen to music. I have to make do with the drivel that Nova pours out 'cos whenever i put a CD on the team stereo i got moaned at that 'its not even music blah blah blah'. Coming from trance fans thats a bit much. FUUUCK THIS!!!

ESKIBOY IN OZ

Just a little reminder too, Wiley tickets are on sale now. Grab them from the usual spots. Prince of Wales - Jan 22nd. Skepta and Bless Beats will be performing with him too and dont forget me and Scotty Hinds on the support as well as Cammo and Mexi. Miss this and you're a numpty!

BOXING DAY

Dont forget, will be a fun night for sure!

NEW GOODZ!?#@#$%?$#!$%%^#@%!%@!

Number one full stop when he's in the zone! This release has come out of nowhere for me. After his last release, the 'Axiom' EP, as far as i was aware the next thing to drop was gonna be his 'Born Blessed' album, then this just appears today. An exclusive release apparently only through UKrecordshop.com this is set to be fyyaaaaa just looking at the producer names alone. Good to see him properly bringing in the dubstep producers. Apparently he's just sent for Wiley too, not heard it yet, but will hunt it out when i get home. Perfect timing for the two of them really with Wiley releasing his thing too.
Out Jan 26th apparently...

This pre-album marks the return of Durrty Goodz since the Axiom EP, its pure grime with a couple of dubstep tracks & features producers like Nocturnal, Delirious, Dexplicit, Rude Kid, Maniac, Joker, Smasher, Taz Buckfaster, Bouncer, Demos, Tes La Rok, Live O Productions & loads more, the artwork is second to none & it all comes wrapped up in a limited edition case! This is an enhanced disk with animation & bonus content! Worth every penny & a WORLD EXCLUSIVE to UKRECORDSHOP.COM, I repeat, no other shop in the world is stocking this.

WEIRD PIZZA

Uggggh. Mondays, fuck ‘em! Four gigs in three consecutive nights, coming home in the daylight has left me in a pretty foul mood today and I managed to miss out on the sun all yesterday. Apart from a quick jog to Boost Juice I lived on the sofa yesterday watching Eddie Murphy movies (Trading Places is too sick!) and am quite pissed of that I couldn’t make it to Plastician, just no way my body could handle it.

But the one good thing to come out of my Sunday sloth was the discovery of this place – Mojo’s Weird Pizza in Port Melbourne (they got them in Richmond and Clifton Hill too). Never have I experienced such an immense pizza. When the delivery guy passed it to me I thought he may have accidently added dumbbells to the toppings the thing was sooo heavy! LOOKING AHEAD

With the new year approaching i thought i'd let you know whats coming in the next few months for NINE HIGH. As anyone who's been checking for us would know Felony and Scotty had to leave the country at the end of 2007 due to visa's expiring, but not before a smasher of a show at Revolver. Now this is when things became a bit of a nightmare! Having your crew spread all over the place does not bode well for getting shit sorted. At this point we had two mixtapes recorded ready to roll that just needed mix downs. One was just us and the second one was purely for ozzie promo and featured ozzie guests on each track, amongst others Ciecmate, Newsense, Mantra, Phrase, Reason, Autism...unfortunately none of this is likely to see the light of day now! We had bare problems getting the stuff mixed down due to all manner of reasons and they're now languishing on someone's harddrive somewhere and so we've pretty much given up on seeing them again!? Apologies to the mc's who featured and also to the people who were expecting copies, but this was all out of our hands to be honest.

We did however manage to get the album sorted hurrah! Recorded all at Sevensick's studio in Oakleigh before everyone's departure, we've held onto it as we saw no point releasing it until we were all in one place again which is now looking to be early next year. The albums all mixed down and going to mastering in the next couple of weeks and is an absolute stonker! Its 15 tracks long, no guests, we dont need any. Beat wise its stoopid, featuring M-Phazes (Superstition / Pharoahe Monch etc), Jase (Obese), Ghost Town (Foreign Beggars / Dubbledge), Thunderclaps (Ghetto), cuts by Flagrant. It's coming out on TAOS (obviously, stay tuned for soon coming announcements about other TAOS signee's...its a new dawn!) March-ish, with a video dropping just before that for 'Fugs needs hugs (M-Phazes RMX)' and a tour planned for April/June when Felony arrives back in the country.

Talking of Felony (www.myspace.com/felonyuk), he's been busying himself in the studio back in England with producer Loco and will soon be releasing his own CD (not sure right now if its gonna come out as a mixtape or album) of original stuff. I heard a little piece of it when i was back in August and believe me its seeeeerious!

Felony

Scotty meanwhile has recently released his 'FuckYouBars Vol.1' mixtape, pure fire from start to end. Grab it from www.myspace.com/scottyhinds and if you're around this weekend then come check out the launch party at Miss Libertines alongside Flagrant, Mexi and Cammo.

Scotty Hinds

Myself (www.myspace.com/fraksha), i'll be putting my solo out through TAOS sometime in '09. I started recording it this year and got half way through it, but a few personal drama's put it on hold for a piece, but i'll be starting up on it again soon. I've been recording it with Phazes so you know its gonna be a smasher beatwise. Also has Mules and Jase on a couple cuts too. I'm on a few features around and about too (Maggot Mouf's mixcd / Choose Mics pre-album / Reason album and a few others) and you can always be sure i'm on the mic at most dubstep and grime events around town.

Thats it right now! I got a few myspace messages asking whats happening so instead of typing a lot of stuff to each one (i feel the carpal tunnel coming on strong!), i thought i'd put it down in one loooong thing. Ok, now just wait for the album....www.myspace.com/ninehigh

HOLA!

I didnt even realise there was a cinema at Fed Square! This should be sick tho. I have a Mexican fascination (i will get there one day!) so definitely looking fwd to checking some of this out.

Opening night this Friday sounds heavy, but i've got two gigs that night so cant make it, Grrr!

Opening Night Fiesta is the biggest Mexican party in Melbourne! The night starts with the first screening of the festival, followed by Mexican food, drinks, and live music.

Screening on opening night will be Teo's Journey (2008) directed by Walter Doehner. Teo (Eri Canete, who won the Best Actor award at the 2008 Montreal World Film Festival for his portrayal) attempts to flee the US with his father, who is on the run from the law.

Following the screening, feast on Mexican food and music brought to you by Uber Lingua. Featuring Cumbia Cosmonauts and Pochoman (Cuba) live, plus DJs bP, Mono & Gonzo the mad Peruvian and VJ Siadatz.

REEELOAD IT

Come one come all. Next weekend for Scotty's 'proper' launch and hear loads of heavy hip hop, grime and whatever else tunes from the homeland. Only $5 entry.

LIBERTY TAKERS!

So for anyone that's not heard yet, for some bullshit 'economic crisis' reasons they have decided to merge Hot BBQ with Summerdayze on New Years day!? What a palaver! Thats like trying to mix barbeque sauce with ice cream or something! Hot BBQ is the alternative to spending the day with pilled up bodybuilders listening to psy-trance, or whatever that god awful shit is. The cheek of it as well is that anyone who has a ticket for Hot BBQ now has the pay an extra $50 for the 'pleasure' of being able to go to Summerdayze AAAAAND they cancelled most of the Hot BBQ acts!?!?! Thanks for fucking up my new year plans Future entertainment. Lucky i dont have a ticket - not that i would have bought one anyway haha, i would have found a way in somehow. So instead of spending the day drinking beer in the sun listening to the likes of Mos Def, they would now like us to spend it with glow stick shaking sweaty muzza's and fluoro wankers! Not a chance.

BLOGS I CHECK

Like me there's probably many people who while their day away at work skimming thru the worlds blogs. For me, a lot of it has to do with the fact that blogspot and wordpress are pretty much the only websites that are not blocked where i work (well apart from medical sites, but they get just slightly boring when you're surrounded by it all day). Anyway, so here are some of the blogs i usually check for, have a butchers...

First up is Martin Clarks blackdownsoundboy blog. Always some good reads on here and plenty of links to sick mixes etc. One i picked up the other day which i recommend is him on Rinse alongside one of my personal favourites, the one and only Taliban Trim on vocals. Grab the mix here...
http://www.sendspace.com/file/nudmvq
http://www.blackdownsoundboy.blogspot.com

Next up it butterz.co.uk run by Elijah and Skilliam. They put in work believe! Always coming with the goods in way of mixes, interviews and up to date news on the grime scene. Much respect to them guys!

http://butterz.co.uk

For anyone that knows their ozhiphop then you'll be familiar with beatsmith Jase. You'll probably know too that he's an enthusiastic graf fiend still after all these years. I'll always have a check around here looking at the pictures wishing that i had stuck with it. I just didnt have to patience to learn and practice, all i wanted was to bomb and vandalise when i was younger.
Opium

I asked Jase to customise me some Babushka's a while back for a present. I found some blank one's and gave him the idea's i wanted. He smashed it!

http://jasebeathedz.wordpress.com

Finally there's Hayley and her girls over at Mayoress. A lot of blogs dont get updated too often but cos there's a few of them there's usually something new when i look back so i know i can ease my work boredom slightly when i check it out. A lot of stuff thats of no relevance to me (heels, bags, heels etc) but i spose its that voyeuristic reading your girls cosmopolitan sort of thing haha and theres nothing wrong with that!

http://www.hayleymei.blogspot.com

So there it is, what i do most of the day. Go check them out.

DONT FORGET!

Straight from Bristol this Saturday night the man responsible for some of the biggest riddims of recent times Joker will be playing at Laundry. Should be biiiig!

DRUNK IN THE PARK

Saturday saw the start of barbeque season, which as anyone that knows me and Scotty knows is something that we take full advantage of as Englishmen living in Australia. The weather could have been a little better, but i still managed to get burnt like the Pom that i am!

The perfect accompaniment to the barby!

Scotty's realisation that yes, the 'Arabic lamb' is definitely above par.

Too much time in New York will turn anyone into a hipster!

Blake's off to work in the mines this week, so this was his final farewell for a bit...enjoy that $$ mate!

A LITTLE WRONG...BUT FUNNY NONETHELESS

THERE IS AN OLD AFRICAN SAYING...

Listening to the D Double best of this morning (download a few posts below) and the 'Back in the day when Desmonds was on' vocal (haha, jokes), got me thinking, how fucking good was Desmonds! Back in the day this was standard viewing. The Gambian dude used to get ripped! Gonna have to get my search and download on i think.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desmond's

NO.5...FINALLY!

Well they were supposed to be weekly, but seems quite a few weeks since the last one. To be fair tho, it was always gonna be a nightmare getting a new one done every week that was worth listening to. Any way, here's a link to episode 5 of 'The best there is at what i do' from Logan Sama.

Back after a bunch of unforseen delays.....

Season 1 continues of everyone's favourite Grime mix series. Loads of new exclusive vocals and beats thrown together from all your favourite artists.

You probably know what to expect so without further delay, here's the download links:

GRRRRRR!!!

Somehow i always manage to forget that the onset of Summer here also brings an onslaught of flies and mozzies. I got fucking munched last night by them damn mosquito's. They never fail to bite the hell out of my tender English skin. This time they've managed to munch my knuckles which i tell you is not too comfortable, especially when typing.

It might make me look like a prick, but i think i may have to invest in one of these. I live near the Yarra and walking anywhere near that thing is a nightmare when the suns out.
