Yes, yes, yes! Did'nt wanna say shit till it was official, but the grime legend that is Wiley is gonna be over here in January, for the Melbourne people Jan 22nd at The Prince. This is a definite big look and hopefully will lead to more grime shows over here. Tickets go on sale 10/12/2008. He's hopefully gonna be back over here later in 2009 too, so get down to this one and show some love. He's bringing over another mc with him to this one, dont know who yet, but my vote goes to Frisco.

Where did the past few days go??? I really need to have some sort of healthy weekend of mineral water and salads reading the bible or something.

Started on Thursday at Jehst's show at the Espy. They really should have done this on the Friday seeing as though he was here for the weekend still. But anyways, its was a good laugh. The P Money V M-Phazes beat thingy was particularly heavy i thought.


Then Friday off to Frankston for a show. Got accosted by some 50+ cougars wanting to take us drinking, not a good look. Show was good tho, got them skanking to some grime even!


Saturday had to be the messiest night i have had in a loooong time. Seriously The Laundry seems to do something to me when i enter nowadays or maybe its just the multiple drink cards they give me! Had a dubstep thing with Same-o, got Rhys, Natso and Gargoyle up there too. Then dragged Jehst and Sonnyjim off to experience the delights of First Floor. I remember nothing, my bank statement this morning however shows there must have been a lot of agwa bought! Awoke to a kitchen of champagne and beer bottles and lots of torn rizla...

I FOUND MY CAMERA

So when i went out last weekend i thought i'd lost my camera. Spent this week calling cab companies, filling out lost property forms etc, but just assumed i wasnt gonna see it again. Was mightily pissed off 'cos i only bought it the day before and had all the photos from my trip to Adelaide on it. Then just now i'm grabbing something from the fridge and what do i see right at the back? Yes, in my drunken stupour i somehow must have decided to put the camera in the fridge where its been sitting happily for the past week! What a donut. I ALMOST DIED...

Not really, just feeling sorry for myself. I've not been outside or eaten anything (apart from a spoonful of jelly) for 72 hours and the antibiotics have given me crazy stomach cramps. Daytime TV is so shit, unbelievably bad, so i got the first series of Dexter which people had harped on about, managed about 2 episodes and couldnt watch no more. I think i'm just in a general foul mood and i've also probably smashed my water limit for the year...at last count 18 showers and 6 baths in 3 days. Being ill is crap.

GAY GANGSTERS

Continuing with the gangster theme...i was watching some old episode's of The Wire last night and everyone knows Omar is the best character (Clay Davis comes very close tho)!

Made me think it would take some very big balls (no pun blah blah) and some front to be a gay gangster. Only two spring to mind and ironically enough they're two of the most violent that i can think of straight or gay!
One half of the most well known couple of gangsters Britain has produced, Ronnie Kray who was more likely to stab you in the neck than mince about with an umbrella in his drink

and more recently, head of the Noonan family in Manchester, Dominic Noonan, currently serving 9.5 years.

THE CHIN

I often get asked why the name Joey Bananas as one of my AKA's (which incidently can be frustrating when you got your name on the door somewhere, but dont know which name is down so end up going thru a list looking like a weirdo), its not cos of any great love of bananas, but more to do with my fascination with the good old Cosa Nostra and this guy Guiseppe Bonnano had the best nickname

He was head of the Bonanno family for years and one of very few to never get convicted of any serious offence ending up dying at the ripe old age of 97 in 2002. However my favourite wiseguy has to be Vincent 'The Chin' Gigante, who let it be known that no one should say his name in public and instead should just point to their chin

This dude was underboss of the Genovese family until the then leader Tony 'Fat Ducks' Salerno died of a stroke in 1992 and leadership fell to The Chin

The Chin was the most powerful mob boss of his time, ruling the Commission (the governing body of the 5 families where inter family disputes were settled) and raking in tens of millions of dollars each year through his many rackateering enterprises. What makes The Chin so fascinating is that for years he managed to ward off any prison time by pretending to be mental! He first did it in 1969 and got off on a bribery charge. He then spent the next 20 odd years wandering the streets of Greenwich Village helped along by his minder's doing whatever he could to convince watching cops he was off his rocker which included pissing in the street, shouting at himself and smoking used ciggy butts from the floor!

Unfortunately for The Chin it all started falling apart when he was arrested in 1990 on some murder and rackateering charges which took until 1997 to get to court due to the many people who came forward stating he was mentally unfit to stand trial. One funny quote from all this came from his mum (who had been complicit in the whole mentall illness charade) who when asked if Vincent was really the head of the Genovese family said, "Vincenzo? He's the boss of the toilet!". He was eventually sentenced to 12 years in 1997 and another 3 in 2003 for admitting to faking his mental illness, but died in December 2005.
People talk a lot of people like John Gotti when talking of the Mafia, but even Gotti was shook when it came to The Chin. There wont be another character like him!

LOSING STUFF

Fuck! I bought a new camera on the way to the airport on Friday afternoon to take to Adelaide and have somehow lost it already. I got disgustingly drunk on Saturday night stumbling around Fitzroy and must have left it in a cab, so no chance of getting that back i dont think. i also lost $40 and an unopened pack of ciggies by the end of it all. Sick.

Anyway, Adelaide was wicked! Totally rammed, crowd went off. The venue was an old brothel or something, poles everywhere, even a spa backstage. Not a chance you'd catch me in it tho, but would be interesting to shine a UV light on it. My first time to Adelaide and it was good, but boy was there nuff crackheads on the street!
Anyways, the highlight for me was this place, right next to the hotel and open 24 hours! They took most of my money Friday night/morning.

Its been a blurry one!

Some of the highlights...started off at the Acclaim party at Heist, was only here a real short time so didnt get any flicks, just an agwa and a beer. Then headed over to P2M gallery for the Peak Street party. THE BEER HAD RUN OUT ALREADY! No drama's, the bottle shop was pointed out and we were on it. Good to see everyone down there getting leeeean.



Then from there to the Espy where we had a show with Terra Firma. Don't remember too much as the rider took a hammering early on.


Flagrant tried to sneak home early and got busted like a naughty school kid. Look at them glazed eyes! The sneaky fucker managed it not long after and called taunting me that he was nearly home, the swine!

Woke up, felt like shit, had a barbeque, went to bed.

Next night ended up as hype man for Flago's set at Snoop at the Rod Laver. Sunk a lot of vodka before stepping on and jumped around like a loon for a bit.

Saw how the other half tour and made good use of the catering people. Steak on demand! Ya dun know!
Watched Ice Cube and then got accosted by Snoops giant security dude who kicked me off stage, but i had the last laugh and sneaked behind his big old back and went and made myself a latte.


Again awoke to a hangover, but was not about to let that stop me hitting it again. This time off to Revolver with Flago to host a private party for Snoop thrown by the tour sponsor Arnette. Cue copius free drinks and a big block of ice they served shots through.

Love the way they act like these things are VIP parties or something, industry wankoff with groupies more like. But i'm not one to turn down a drink.
